It's Almost News Team

A friendly reminder, we’re rated R. Just sayin. We found a gem and some classical music on the Upper East Side, go check out the 92nd St Y. The knitters of NYC (and all over) represented at the Yarn Harlot Represent Event at FIT for the book launch of the amazing Stephanie Pearl-McPhee and we were there on the scene. Very good times. The refreshingly honest Gene Wilder spoke at the 92nd St Y and gave the scoop about his memoir Kiss Me Like A Stranger and his new novel, My French Whore. What movie is he most proud of? Young Frankenstein of course!

It’s Almost News with Wendy Dorrel, Martin Winslow, and special guest corespondent Chris Fowler tackle current issues.

Toby, the wonder dog, performs the Heimlich and saves a life! We discuss.

If you’re paying alimony to your ex-wife and she gets a penis should you still have to pay him?

Movies are going 3D and we thinks that’s crap. Nothing will ever be better than Captain EO. Nothing!
Are you smarter than a fifth grader? Wendy gets quizzed.

iTunes gives a little back, to make more money.

The Senate oks War bill and effectively does absolutely nothing productive in the process. We’re thinking of moving to Canada. Seriously.

Porn on the internet. Sites may soon have the option of having a .xxx instead of a .com Why? There’s really no reason.

Featured Music is found on:

The Podsafe Music Network:

Earn Hollywood Earn by Possible Oscar off of the album: The Wrath of Con

Sweet Blossom by Robin Stine off of the album: Daydream

Make sure to check out our musician’s websites and show them some love.

Episode 15: Been Missing You

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

It’s on people. We’re back with a vengeance and in this power-packed episode we were so eager to be back that it was hard to stop. This week we discuss the Academy Awards, how Ellen did as host (rocked it), and the ridiculously long pre shows. Marty shares how he is going to handle being on the red carpet someday and his ideas on fashion.

Then we delve into the unfairness of comedians and their complete lack of awards or even nominations - Eddie Murphy was robbed!! And Jim Carrey where ever you are, The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine were amazing and you deserved a lot more credit than was received.

Dreamgirls is discussed, Bill Cosby and his impeccable storytelling, and our wish to see Eddie Murphy back on the stand-up stage.

Richard Jeni, the tragedy, how much joy he brought to people, and how he will be missed. Truly sad.

Celebrity sitings we’ve had living in NYC:

The Starbucks caffeine crew Marty served: RuPaul, Olsen Twins, the shy Mike Myers (leave him alone people!), Ron Howard, and Philip Seymour Hoffman (I hope I spelled that right).

Marty has served as a waiter: Jon Bon Jovi, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Hugh Grant, Bruce Willis, Sidney Poitier, John Cleese, William Goldman, and most recently Gwynenth Paltrow and Chris Martin (who we will now and forever refer to as Chris Coldplay).

Wendy saw each day at work: Claire Danes and her adorable dog.

Ok people, rule number 1 is: DON’T BE A STAR FUCKER. It’s just tacky and sad. We discuss the unruly fans Marty has had to deal with and the ninja who sneaked past him to harass Chris Coldplay. Here’s your sign dude.

Did you know that Tom Cruise pays his personal trianer a million dollars a year?! Crazy.

Wendy’s Shape magazine mystery. Ok, someone fess up already!! Marty gets some fitness advice from good friend Nicoye Banks and gets his ass kicked.
