You Spoke With Julia Sweeney!!

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Today I received an email with that in the subject line. I opened it to read:

Wendy, I can’t believe Julia Sweeney was in your house! The podcast was great, she’s so funny and I can’t wait to listen to the next one with Nicoye Banks. How long have the two of you been doing your show? You both sound like people I would like to be friends with.

Write back soon,

(edited out person’s name)

Ok a couple things. It’s awesome to have a fan. Marty and I appreciate receiving emails and support from our listeners always. It’s the only perk we really get. This one threw me a little because of a few things and I hope I don’t come across as ungrateful or a complete bitch.

1) The mail address it was sent from is suspicious so I’ve decided not to respond through email but instead here.

2) While, yes, I did speak with Julia about using her show, Letting Go of God as a topic on our show and received her approval she wasn’t in the actual show. I mean that would have been kick-ass but it didn’t happen. It just made me wonder if the person who emailed really listened to the show or if by some very strange twist there’s another show with Wendy and Marty that interviewed Julia and our show was mistaken for it. Seems unlikely right? Or maybe the listener thought I was Julia? I’m really at loss.

3) We’ve been doing our show since October 28th, 2006. That was easy to answer.

4) I wasn’t sure how to respond to the friend thing. I’m sure the sentiment was meant in the most innocent, friendly way but it just seemed weird, no? Maybe the person is just really young, it sounded young, or it sounded creepy. And I get that whole wanting to be friends with people that you come to know through whatever their art is but to have it actually happen to me is a very strange thing to experience. Because no matter how much Marty and I disclose on the show there’s no way to really “know” us really well.

If you’re the sender, thanks for the support and I hope you enjoy our episode with Nicoye. He was in our house. ;)

Episode 14: No Content

And we’re back! Huge apologies and kisses for the wait. I was able to recover most of the file but still lost a good 20 minutes so this one is a quickie.

We discuss our first interview with Nicoye Banks, breakups, and:

The play: Avenue Q, “this is like Muppet porn!” Watch what you say outside a theatre, we may be there to make fun of you on our show.

Marty doesn’t ever want to have children and doesn’t believe in marriage Wendy wants to be a mommy someday and would like to eventually get married. The conflict of these things and what it means to the relationship.

Also Wendy has a serious case of the giggles.

Bear with me

Monday, February 19th, 2007

I’m having some difficulties with the podcast we recorded this week. Most specifically the file won’t open. Soooo I’m working on it but the show may not be up today as promised. I’m also feeling a touch under the weather and we may have to re-record tonight so it may be another day or so.

Sorry all!

Nicoye Banks on We're Almost There
This week we interview the talented actor Nicoye Banks. We talk about everything from the amazing food in New Orleans (Did you know that the original Popeyes was in New Orleans?)to his role in the movie Invincible, appearing on the show Law and Order (which, if you remember from our first episode: The Dun Dun Sound we’re big fans of), being on the set of the soap One Life To Live, and how he prepares for upcoming auditions. We see great things in store for this guy. Keep on the look out!
Thanks Nicoye, for joining our little show!

Don’t miss Nicoye’s upcoming movies:
